Protea was originally built as a board and lodging house with 77 rooms. Protea Flame was registered as a Home for the Aged on 6 March 1974, Sick Bays ware only later added. Protea Home for the Aged currently accommodates 116 elderly and frail residents. Jubilee Retirement Centre with 104 flats in Tygerdal, Goodwood was opened on 10 December 1988.

- 43 Rooms on 1st floor
- 26 Rooms on ground floor 9 Double rooms
- Nursing care according to need 3 Meals per day and tea
- Administration of blister pack medication Laundry

- Transport to doctors, Day Hospital, Hospital, Banks Transport to N1 City, Shoprite Centre
- First Tuesday of each month free
- Non refundable deposit of R4,000.00 per person
- Selfcare: R10,580.00 per person per month which includes R190.00 for medication packaging.
- Medium care: R10,877.00 per person per month which includes R190.00 for medication packaging.
High and Maximum Care (Home furnishes)
- 3 Ladies Wards (23 Beds)
- 1 Men’s Ward (6 Beds) 24 Hour Nursing Care Daily Wound Care
- Administer oxygen as needed Suctioning of Secretions
- Peg Tube Management
- 3 Meals per day and tea (According to Resident’s needs) * Administration of Blister Pack Medication orally or via peg tube. Laundry
- Cleaning of Wards
- Transport, pedicure and hair and blow dry included in unit cost.
- Non-refundable fee of R4,000.00 per person.
- Highcare: R12,698.00 per person per month. Above unit costs include R380.00 for toiletries and R190.00 for medication packaging.
